Pleasant Farewells

Well,

Yesterday was my last day in San Diego.  I bid adieu to many people who graced my life during my time there.  I stopped by the best job I ever had at KPBS to tell everyone of my upcoming journey.  I also said goodbye to a few long time friends and some very new friends of mine.  I also packed up the last of Ben's things and sent them off to him.  There was a calm sense of closure with that as well.   I have made my peace with that part of my life and I am happy to move on.

All in all it was an extremely emotional day... but very positive.  The closure of the chapter in my life has helped to refocus my thoughts towards Korea.  While still dealing with the daily San Diego life, I have not yet really focused on the journey. I have the basics down, but I haven't learned any of the language, which I really should do.  I really just want to learn some basics to get me around.  Now that I'm here with the fam I can relax and focus on the upcoming move.  It's a big one.  I'm very excited though.  First things first, I really need to get the appropriate baggage.   One thing I noticed is that I am a newbie at traveling. I need to get some heavy duty luggage ready for this travel across the sea.

My family is warily optimistic about my journey.  They think I'm nuts, but at the same time on some level they understand.  I've always been the black sheep of the fam, so it's no surprise to them that I'm running off to another country.

I'm so ready for this... I can't wait to share more
